Appointments

We run an appointment system, but a doctor is rostered on for emergencies every day. We encourage you to book with your regular doctor; and to have a "backup doctor" in case your regular doctor is unavailable. Our registrars can assist with on the day appointments. You can make an appointment with your doctor by telephoning the practice or calling-in personally (after 8.30am from Monday to Friday ). Saturdays 9-11.30. Please state if the nature of the problem is urgent so that it can be dealt with promptly.

Appointments are normally made at 10-15 minute intervals. Your doctor may run late because of complex or serious problems (emergencies). If you wish, you may telephone the practice before your appointment to check whether your doctor is running on time. If you feel you will require a longer consultation, please indicate this to our staff at the time of making your appointment.

Telephone Consultations during Covid

Medicare has made it possible for consultations over the phone during this Covid period. Medicare requirements mean that you have to have consulted with a Doctor in our practice in a face to face consultation in the last 12 months to qualify for a phone consultation. The same consultation fee's apply.

Consultation Fees

Brook Medical Centre uses Medicare Online, meaning that when you pay your fee, Medicare will place your rebate into your bank account the same day. This saves patients the inconvenience of having to visit a Medicare office to claim.

Short Consultation    $45

Standard Consultation   $90

Long Consultation       $163

Telephone Consultations - Fees Apply

Specialist Consultations are privately charged and vary depending on the consultation/procedure.

Please note that Payment is required at the time of consultation. Brook Medical Centre is not a bulk billing practice. However we do make the following exceptions;

all children under 16 years

Childhood immunisations

Holders of DVA gold cards

in most cases pension and healthcare card holders

Health Assessments and Care Plans are generally Bulk Billed

Telephoning your doctor

Phone calls may be put through to the doctor. If the doctor is seeing patients when you call, he may need to call you back at a later time, otherwise our nurse may be able to help you.

Repeat prescriptions

The issue of repeat prescriptions generally requires a visit to the doctor. In rare circumstances, the doctor may write one without a consultation. (A $15.00 script fee is payable when picking up your script at the surgery). It is helpful if we have at least 24 hours notice to deal with any request.
